Rhonette
I am not originally from Jacksonville, FL. I moved here 5 years ago from Buffalo, NY. In Buffalo, there are tons of restaurants with great food. Missing my favorite places to eat, I was determined to find some here in Jacksonville…and I have. I encounter a little trouble finding things that I can eat when dining out. I have celiac disease which is an allergy to gluten found in wheat, barley and rye. Basically, if it is made with flour…I can’t have it. Think about it for a minute, no pasta, no cakes, no bread, no gravies or sauces, nothing breaded and nothing involving bread crumbs as an ingredient. The worst of it all is no beer! Bummer, huh? When I review a dish, know that it will be gluten-free.

One of my biggest pet peeves is customer service. I like my appetizer before my meal not with an apology and 1/2 way into the main course; I’ll refuse it and send it back. If I have to touch a plate and hand it to the wait staff…I’m so done! I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. Customer service can make or break a restaurant, there are very few restaurants I will go back to that have poor customer service, but there is a couple. The food has to be really, really good to get me to come back. I am doing this for fun and have a good time writing, you should be able to see that in my reviews. I will always be honest about a restaurant I am reviewing; I believe that the best reviews are. If it is a negative review, I hope the restaurant reads it and makes the necessary changes.
Pie generally likes different foods than I do. He loves a fried anything but I have rarely eaten fried food in 22 years. I’ll indulge in a pitcher of margaritas at any restaurant that is remotely Mexican, he won’t (hey, someone has to drive). He loves Coke products and I am a fan of Pepsi. One thing we both are is cheap, yes, I said it…cheap. We are not going to a restaurant for it’s ambiance or meticulous plating of the food but if we end up at a restaurant that has that, we just hope their food is good and worth the price. We do agree that anything is better when topped with melted cheese. What’s with cheese? It’s perfect!

Dear Rhonette,
Sounds like you and MP are having some fun. Just had a new co-worker start and she is like you…..doesn’t like her food to touch. I hate that you are gluten free but it will be a nice suprise to hear the differences and choices you and MP are making. I hope to meet you some day. MP can be the DD and you and I can drink liquor. We’ll have fun.
Have tons of fun,
Suanne
